When it comes to fixing the early signs of aging that affect the skin, dermal fillers are often a preferred option. Dermal fillers are injectable substances that are injected into the skin to correct various issues such as folds, fine lines, acne scars, and deep wrinkles. These fillers provide volume and aid in the recontouring of specific areas of one’s facial structure, such as the nose or chin.
One type of dermal filler that has been gaining a lot of attention is Restylane. This injectable treatment is generally used to help correct nasolabial folds, which are the lines that are formed from your nose to the corners of your mouth, and marionette lines, which are lines extending from the mouth to the jawline.
Restylane is also injected into the corners of the mouth and in the lips to offer more volume and create a fuller look. On the whole, Restylane is an excellent dermal filler that helps reduce and eliminate the typical signs of aging on the skin.
WHAT IS RESTYLANE?
Restylane is a substance made from hyaluronic acid gel, which is basically a type of sugar naturally found in human skin and joints. In the joints, its job is to serve as a lubricant, making movement easier.
Other than that, hyaluronic acid offers cushioning, delivers nutrients, and absorbs water. So, when injected, it basically does what it’s supposed to do, i.e., expand and fill up the gaps and wrinkles. When this happens, your skin begins too looks more uniform and youthful.
THE PROCEDURE
Restylane injection treatments don’t require admission. The procedure is simple and often carried out right inside a doctor’s office. Local anesthesia may be administered for patients who find injections too painful.
However, for most people, this may not be necessary. The only pain a patient is likely to experience is the pain that comes with the injection. It’s a mild kind of pain that can easily be tolerated by most.
The procedure typically lasts around half an hour, but may vary depending on the extent of the treatment needed. Patients can immediately return home after the procedure.
To begin the process, your doctor will first mark the sites for injection. Once that is done, the appropriate dosage will be chosen based on a patients individual needs and goals. Once the Restylane is injected into the appropriate treatment area, it will be absorbed into the skin for improved smoothness and volume.
The results of the procedure will be apparent immediately, but will continue to improve over a period of time. You will find that you’ll look more youthful and with healthy and vibrant looking skin.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT
There may be some mild swelling for a few days, but this is temporary and should subside quickly. Patients don’t need to worry about downtime and can resume normal activities right away. Exposure to sunlight should be kept to a bare minimum until full results are noticeable. Talk to your doctor for more information regarding the treatment and recovery.
