Many of us would like to enjoy having youthful skin for as long as possible. Youth and radiant skin go hand in hand. With age, the skin starts to lose its tightness and age lines start to form.
There are different options available that can help reverse the effects of time and give you the ability to reclaim your youthful look and achieve a natural glow. One of the most popular treatment options among them is Juvederm.
JUVEDERM – THE AGE LINE ERASER
Dermal fillers work by restoring lost facial volume and in the process, erase fine lines and wrinkles. This treatment is preferred when the patient is keen on subtle improvements. Older patients are more likely to choose dermal fillers over an invasive facelift.
The active ingredient in the Juvederm family of dermal fillers is hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is a sugar that is naturally produced in high quantities in the skin. With age, the cells that produce HA start to lose efficiency, thereby reducing HA concentration in the skin.
HA is linked to youthful skin because of its unique property of retaining large volumes of water. Juvederm containing HA is used to restore volume in different regions of the face, including the lips and cheeks.
PREPARING FOR THE JUVEDERM TREATMENT
Unlike more permanent facial contouring, the juvederm procedure is minimally invasive. Juvederm principally contains a modified HA formulation that is injected into specific regions of the face.
Consuming certain medications before Juvederm injections may lead to bruising so it is best to tell your doctor about the medications you’re currently taking in order to avoid any unnecessary complications.
In order to avoid the risk of excessive bruising, patients are advised to refrain from using any medications that may cause blood thinning. Applying a cold pack on the face before the injections constricts blood vessels and helps to control bruising.
THE JUVEDERM PROCEDURE
You can expect the treatment process to last for about 15-30 minutes. Juvederm is injected into specific regions of the face with minimal discomfort. The results are immediate and long-lasting. When compared to other dermal fillers that are available, Juvederm has the least side effects and provides long-lasting results.
Also, since the HA present in Juvederm is biocompatible, there is minimum risk of developing an allergic reaction.
Prior to the injection, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to minimize discomfort from the sting of the needle. Juvederm injections are given to the deep dermal region. Upon entering the skin layer, the HA present in the Juvederm solution will absorb water and expand. The result is smooth and voluminous skin.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT JUVEDERM
Juvederm is available in various concentrations of HA and the treatment region determines the injection strength. Juvederm is effective in correcting many faint signs of aging, but is not recommended for sagging and extensive facial wrinkle correction.
Patients who have cold sores, pimples, cysts and rashes are advised to postpone their Juvederm treatment until the conditions improve. It’s important that you talk to your doctor about your medical history before undergoing any type of treatment. This can help avoid potential complications and help deliver the best results possible.
